In 2021, I co-founded the Maurice Duruflé Academy with the goal of reshaping classical music education to better fit the needs of twenty-first century musicians.
I firmly believe that everyone has a unique artistic vision worthy of refinement. I consider it my job as a teacher to help my students discover and explore that vision, while providing them a firm foundation in musical and technical training.
I have worked with a wide range of different students, ranging from absolute beginners, to very advanced ― even advanced musicians who are beginners at piano or organ. I emphasize healthful technique and practice habits, and stay up-to-date on the latest scholarship in injury-preventative technique. I also teach some students simultaneously on both piano and organ, at the same hour-long rate. It has been more and more evident that the world needs more organists, and there are increasingly lucrative employment opportunities for pianists with even just a little bit of training in organ.
